Important NYS Department of Health Update on Masks and Face Coverings
February 14, 2023
Dear Colleagues,
On Friday, February 10th, the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) provided updated recommendations on the use of mask and face coverings in health care settings.
Based on these recommendations, we will continue our practice of wearing face mask and face covering per our policies, procedures and protocols when providing patient care.
Per the NYS DOH: All personnel, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status, should wear a CDC-approved face mask when in a health care setting (i.e., facilities or entities regulated under Articles 28, 36, and 40 of the Public Health Law). In addition, facilities or entities regulated under Articles 28 (hospital), 36 (home care), and 40 (hospice) must set policies for personnel and visitor masking based on CDC and NYSDOH recommendations. These policies should be at least as strict as CDC recommendations and may be stricter at the discretion of the facility.
We want to thank you in advance for your continued support of good infection prevention practices and for keeping our patients, clients and members safe.
