Wishing You a Happy, Restful Memorial Day Weekend
May 25, 2023
Dear Colleagues,
With Memorial Day just a few days away, I hope you can enjoy the long weekend with friends and family while at the same time taking a moment to honor the brave members of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Since just after the first World War, Memorial Day has been a day to honor those who died fighting in U.S. wars. It’s important to remember that, to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day, because without their heroism, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the many freedoms we have today.
Memorial Day is also very much about our mission here at VNS Health. That’s because the soldiers we honor on this day are not just those who fell on the battlefield. Many U.S. veterans die years later from illnesses that originated in combat, and a good number of those veterans spend their final days under the care of our dedicated hospice teams and our Veterans Hospice Program.
One of these heroes is the focus of a very special and very moving Neighborhood Spotlight Memorial Day video that was posted on Frontline earlier this week. I really urge you to take a few minutes to watch this inspiring video, because it captures our mission in action – and the meaning of Memorial Day – much better than anything I might say here. You can view the video by clicking here.
Again, I wish you a happy, restful Memorial Day weekend.
