Important Information Regarding Paid Time Off for COVID-Vaccination

A new law was recently passed that employees are eligible for paid time off when getting vaccinated against COVID-19 during their scheduled work day/shift.  You are not eligible for this paid time off if you are vaccinated during a day or at a time that you are not scheduled to work. If you are vaccinated going forward (on or after March 13th), you are eligible to receive up to four hours of excused, paid time off from work per injection of the COVID-19 vaccine.

If you require time off during the workday/shift for a vaccination appointment, please make a request for time off to your supervisor.

You should only request the amount of time off from work needed, you may be paid for up to four hours. For example: You are scheduled to work from 8:00am – noon and must stop working at 10am in order to travel to a 11am vaccine appointment. You should request two hours of time off from your supervisor, for the period from 10am to noon.

You should communicate any need for time off to your supervisor as soon as possible, so that coverage can be arranged.

If you require more than four hours of time during the workday in order to get vaccinated, please let your supervisor know. Any additional time needed beyond four hours will be charged against your PTO balance. If you do not have sufficient PTO, this time will be unpaid.

You should submit a copy of your vaccination card and only your vaccination card, following each dose, to Partners in Care Health Services on the Ground Level of 220 E 42nd Street or fax to (212) 290-3184. Please include your Employee ID number.

If you received one or both doses of the vaccine before March 13th or you are receiving your vaccine when you are not scheduled to work, you are not eligible for this leave.

Finally, our $100 Bonus PTO program will be ending effective immediately. If you already scheduled to receive your second dose through VNSNY, you will receive the $100 PTO bonus.

If you have any questions, please contact your Supervisor at (212) 609-4442 and select Option 1, and enter their 4 digit extension (last four digits of their previous telephone number).
