Important: Preparing for the NYSDOH Triennial Recertification Visit at VNS Health

Dear Team,
VNS Health Personal Care is preparing for the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) triennial recertification survey. This survey is important because it helps our organization meet the state and federal regulations that are required for us to be able to operate.
During the survey, a team from the NYSDOH will be at our offices monitoring our services and procedures for about a week. Throughout their time here, members of their team will:
- Conduct home patient visits with VNS Health team members (if patient/caregiver gives prior consent)
- Interview various VNS Health team members, patients, managers, administrators, and board members
- Review patient charts, VNS Health HR records, and policies/procedures
- Visit our various office locations
We don’t yet have an exact date for this visit from NYSDOH, but it will likely happen in late February or early March 2024. In preparation, this is what we will need your help with.
What we will do to prepare:
- Provide regular communications with Weekly Tip Sheets with reminders of best practices, policies, and procedures. Tip sheets will be included in the Your News This Week newsletter. They can also be found on the HHA Resource Center
- Conduct team meetings to review best practices, policies, and procedures
- Conduct a mock survey to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
Please be sure to:
- Read the weekly tip sheets to remind you of standards and best practices in patient/client care so you can continue to successfully apply them when working with a patient or client. Please read the first tip sheet by clicking here.
- Review any resources on the HHA Resources website regarding the NYSDOH triennial recertification survey
- Ask your supervisor about any questions you may have
