Important note about in-person in-service training: The last day of in-person in-service training was held on Wednesday, May 27. All in-service training for the rest of this year is expected to be completed virtually through either CareConnect or VNS Health Rewards/Caribou. We will notify you when we expect to resume in-person training.

Sundowning: Five Ways to Manage Afternoon Agitation

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month! In recognition, here are some tips for how to manage clients that experience “sundowning.” Sometimes people with dementia become more agitated, irritable, or confused as the day progresses. This is called “sundowning,” and as many as 20% of people with dementia experience it. It is one of the most challenging situations caregivers face.
