It’s Not Too Late to Sign Up for This Wednesday’s Safety Awareness and Self-Defense Workshop

Dear Colleagues,

The safety of our team members, both in the field as well as those who commute to and from our offices, is a top priority for me and all of VNS Health leadership. To help address any concerns you may have about your personal safety while on public transit or out in the community, we have partnered with a local nonprofit organization called the Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE) to provide a series of self-defense safety workshops for any VNS Health team members who would like to attend them.

These educational safety workshops will provide precautions, verbal strategies, and physical techniques to increase safety and teach you how to handle potential conflicts.

We’re offering three safety workshops – two virtual safety workshops in August, followed by an in-person safety workshop in September at our 220 East 42nd Street office. The September in-person workshop will include a limited number of team members. It will also be streamed live online so people not attending in person can watch it in real time. Each workshop will cover a different aspect of self-defense. You can attend one, two, or all three workshops.

The schedule for these two-hour safety workshops is listed below. These workshops are open to all VNS Health employees, and I strongly encourage anyone who is interested to attend. Please note that in order to attend you will need to pre-register — which you can easily do by clicking below.

  • Safety Workshop 1 (via Zoom): Wednesday, August 17th, 1 pm to 3 pm, Virtual De-escalation & Safety To register, click here.
  • Safety Workshop 2 (via Zoom): Wednesday, August 31st, 7 am to 9 am, Virtual Intro to Public Transit Safety. To register, click here.

For a more detailed description of each workshop, please click here. If you can’t make one of these workshops, don’t worry — they’ll be recorded, and you can watch them afterwards at a time that’s convenient for you.

Your safety is extremely important to me and the rest of our organization. I hope you’ll take advantage of these offerings, and that you’ll share information about them with your colleagues as well.

Thank you,

Tracy
